1986 17' Montauk

PROJECT 59

This two-owner, freshwater, low hour (< 300) original Classic Boston Whaler Montauk was located in Northern Georgia and acquired from the second owner. The boat was purchased brand new from a Boston Whaler dealer near Lake Lanier, Georgia and used exclusively on Lake Lanier by both owners.

She has never seen saltwater or spent a night in the water and has always been stored inside a garage on her original Shoreline custom galvanized trailer.

She is equipped with her original 1986 Evinrude V-4 90hp outboard equipped with a Variable Ratio Oil (VRO) injection system with 1.8-gallon external reservoir oil tank, power trim/tilt, electric start/choke, OMC tachometer and OMC trim/tilt gauge. The motor has 120 psi compression across all 4 cylinders. The OMC V-4 motors are known for their reliability and are highly desirable for the Classic Boston Whaler 17’ hull due to their very high power/weight ratio. The V-4s have a reputation as one of OMC’s best outboards ever produced. The Evinrude has been fully serviced and is excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition with zero rust/corrosion and still has the glossy original paint.

The Classic 17’ Montauk is probably Boston Whaler’s most recognizable and iconic model. The highly desirable 17’ hull, paired with a center console, provides an ideal platform for inshore or offshore fishing, while still affording ample space for family cruises or watersports.

This particular 17’ Montauk is a rare find in this condition. The Classic Boston Whaler 17’ Montauk came equipped standard with 10” side railings, full bow railing, reversible pilot seat with bottom cushion, combination bow light/chock assembly, Ritchie Navigator flush mount compass and stainless-steel pole stern light.

This boat was optioned through Boston Whaler with a 72qt Igloo cooler with seat cushion forward of the console, tan Boston Whaler battery box, and Wm. J Mills Flytop. Additional options include a 24-gallon fuel tank mounted under the reversible pilot seat, Garmin depth sounder, blue Sunbrella bow cushion and full mooring/trailer cover.

The original heavy duty Shoreline trailer is in excellent original condition with new keel rollers, bunks, radial tires, hubs, bearing buddies and lighting system. This 17’ Montauk is absolutely perfect, turn-key and ready to be enjoyed today.
